About

The University of Basel is offering the Biozentrum PhD Fellowships Program for international students to study in Switzerland. The Biozentrum, the Center for Molecular Life Sciences at the University of Basel, invites exceptionally talented and driven young researchers from around the world to apply. Unlike other doctoral programs, these fellowships are awarded through a highly competitive process, selecting up to 10 candidates annually.

Funded by the Werner Siemens Foundation and the University of Basel, the fellowships aim to support outstanding graduate students in Life Sciences. The program provides direct access to the PhD program at the Biozentrum, additional financial support, the opportunity to choose a research group through a rotation-based system, and assistance for attending scientific meetings and courses during the PhD.

Fellows will conduct research in at least two different laboratories at the Biozentrum. After completing these rotations and gaining approval from the respective group leader, candidates can select their research group for their PhD thesis. Each rotation lasts a minimum of two months, and the fellowship funding covers the entire duration of the PhD program.
