About

The Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is dedicated to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

We recognize the barriers and challenges faced by underrepresented medical conference participants due to systemic inequalities and socioeconomic factors.

Therefore, we’re launching an Equity Scholarship. It aims to support physicians and trainees who identify as Black, Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis), or racialized individuals to attend the 2024 Family Medicine Forum (FMF).

About Scholarship

The CMPA Equity Scholarship offers three (3) scholarships for attending the 2024 Family Medicine Forum (FMF) in Vancouver, BC, from November 6-9, 2024.

It covers individual registration fees (any category) only. Costs for travel, accommodations, meals, incidentals, etc., are not included.

Requirements

The requirements for the CMPA Equity Scholarship are as follows:

Eligibility: Applicants must self-identify as belonging to one of the following groups: Black, Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis), or racialized individuals.

Application Components:

A brief response (maximum 400 words) detailing how attending FMF 2024 will benefit their future and why this opportunity is important to them.

A current résumé outlining their qualifications and experience.

Submission: Applications must be submitted in English or French to advocacy@cmpa.org by August 16, 2024.

Notification: Successful applicants will be notified of their selection by August 30, 2024.

Selection Criteria: The selection panel will assess applications based on demonstrated need and the quality of the application package submitted.
